Volunteering

Have you ever thought about volunteering?

Volunteering offers numerous benefits, both for the individuals who give their time and for the communities they serve. It enables people to develop new skills, gain valuable experience, and build connections and friendships with others, all while making a positive impact.

Did you know it takes over 60 volunteers 108 hours a week to help run the Jubilee Foodbank?

Each of the following teams plays an important role and we couldn’t do it without them:

Collections Team: every week, our Collections Team visit all our donation points in town, collect the donations and drop them off at our store.

Store Team: these volunteers sort through the donations, dating the items and stocking up the shelves in the store, ready for the FLVs to put the food parcels together.

Front Line Volunteers: the FLVs are responsible for making up and delivering the food parcels to the local referral agencies.

Shoppers: not everything we put into the food parcels is donated, and sometimes we don’t receive enough of certain items, so our shoppers help to top up what is needed.

Admin: These are the volunteers who help to reply to emails, take minutes at meetings, and look after our website and social media.

Trustees: this is the committee of volunteers who help with the overall running of the Foodbank.

Volunteer Events Representative

We’re looking for a volunteer who can attend occasional community events on behalf of Jubilee Foodbank, such as Harborough Carnival and seasonal events in the town centre. These events are usually held on Saturdays.

These events are a great opportunity to raise awareness of the Foodbank and the support we offer locally. We would love to attend more of them, but we need someone who is happy to be there in person, talk to members of the public, and represent the Foodbank in a friendly and approachable way.

The role may involve setting up a small display, answering simple questions, handing out information, and helping people understand how they can support or access Jubilee Foodbank.

If you’re friendly, reliable, and comfortable talking to people at local events, we’d love to hear from you. Please email jubileefoodbankmh@gmail.com for more information.
